Microsoft Corporation has recently announced that it has identified a new malicious software in its systems. It is related to a massive hacking campaign, as disclosed by US officials this week. Currently, there has been a rising list of attacked organizations – inducing private and government agencies.

One of the people familiar with the hacking spree said the hackers made use of Microsoft cloud offerings while avoiding Microsoft’s corporate infrastructure.

Microsoft is a user of Orion that is a widely deployed networking management solution from SolarWinds. It has already been suspected of Russian attacks on crucial US agencies and others.

As a result, the country’s National Security Agency issued an updated cyber-security advisory – mentioning how Microsoft Azure cloud solutions could have been compromised by the attackers. It also directed users to lock their systems.
